The greedy black holes

The black holes are incorrigibly greedy. They are star eaters and world devourers. When something stirs up their hunger, they won’t hesitate to cross the entire universe to taste that thing.

They spend most of their times listening to noises in space, searching for new sweets. And theirs ears are so powerful that they can even hear the creasing sound of a candy wrapper, from billions of kilometers. But what can they ever do with a simple candy ?

Good for them, their imagination is limitless. To their ears, the cracking of a collapsing star sounds like the crisp of a pancake. And the Bim Bam Bang sound of a meteor jumping in the heart of a field of asteroids make their mouths water up, because it sounds like the crackling of a popcorn.

One day, while they were still listening to the sound of the universe, they hear from the outer limits of space, the name of a new galaxy. And this name is terribly appetizing : it’s the Milky Way.

And they’re off … After a long journey, they arrive, and they are not deceived. The Milky Way is fabulous : it looks like clouds of whipped cream floating calmly in the heart of space.

The greedy ones then tie up their napkins and are ready to set to lunch, when one of them notices a magnificent small planet, all blue, nestled in a corner of the galaxy.

« Aw ! What a pretty ! I wonder how she’ll taste like with that strange color ? » « She has to be deliciously sugary » answers the other. « It’s the cherry on the top ! Too bad there is only one. »

All this while, the inhabitants on the small planet are frightened. They have seen a gaping mouth appear in the sky, threatening to swallow up their world. But what can they do ? They are so small.

So they go out of their homes to look at the sky for a last time. Angry friends reconcile, parents hug their children, holding them tightly in their arms. Unknown people hold hands. At that moment, the little planet’s entire atmosphere permeates with love.

But it’s too late. Gloops !! The black hole swallows the little planet in a single bite. And yet, what a surprise !! No sooner has he swallowed her that he throws her out, making a weird face.

« Yuk ! Disgusting ! It’s awful !! » he says. « Too much love ! There’s too much love ! And it gives it an atrocious taste. A taste of.. of …? Of garlic ! » « Garlic !? Really ? » replies the other, « Yuk ! That’s DIS…GUST…ING ! Let’s go out of here, it has taken away my appetite. »

And so, as quickly as they came, the greedy black holes returned to their home, leaving the little blue planet at peace. And they won’t ever come back. Well, not as long as there is so much love here. The love that gives the little planet such a dreadful taste of garlic.
